Florence

In my final year of study at SintLucas, I went on a school trip to Florence. We stayed there for 5 days and had a busy schedule exploring all the beautiful landmarks of Florence.

Seeing all the artworks was incredible, especially after learning about them in my art classes and seeing them in presentations. But experiencing them in person was truly impressive, seeing their size and detail up close.

One of the highlights was climbing to the top of the dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Being able to admire the painted dome from such a close distance was breathtaking. And standing at the top, overlooking the city of Florence, made the climb up all those stairs worth it.

We also visited the Opera del Duomo Museum, Basilica of Santa Croce, Pitti Palace, and the Accademia, where Michelangelo’s David is displayed. It was amazing to see such iconic works of art, especially the sheer size of David. Examining the artwork from different angles was also fascinating.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Florence and can’t wait to go back someday.
